Comparisons between Garmin NUVI 1300 and Garmin NUVI 205

I bought the Garmin NUVI 1300 recently after comparing it with another powerful model of Garmin NUVI 205.

Users who have a common knowledge all know that in addition to the excellent navigation ability, the Garmin NUVI 205 is also advantaged in the following aspects: first of all, the photo navigation offers an ability of guiding you only by inputting the photos in this machine. The rest second one is HotFixTM satellite prediction, which can predict the position of GPS satellite according to the data of GPS satellite operating tracks to achieve the function of searching satellite for positioning within one second. Last but not least, TMC real time traffic report can help you learn the traffic condition thus driving smartly. However, the Garmin NUVI 1300 performs better than 205.

The NUVI 1300 GPS navigator adopts the ultra slim design with a wide screen which is much thinner than Garmin NUVI 205 and other previous models. The user interface is also enhanced. Comparing to the 205 model, this model adds the eco route, public transit mode and text-to-speech. In addition, it also offers pedestrian navigation ability which is enabled by optional CityXplorer maps. This is because the Garmin NUVI 1300 can also be taken in hand in addition to using in buses, tramway, and suburban rail systems. The CityXplorer map is available for choosing tourist destinations. As for the maps, the users can download directly from the website into the NUVI. The appearance of 205 uses the grey as its dominant hue, providing a simple and clean menu interface. The Garmin NUVI 1300 follows the excellent tradition, to improve the user interface features with advanced graphics and new slide control for menu operation. What is more, the increased eco Route adopts the fuel-efficient routes which can save the drivers’ money and fuel as well. This function can help the users view the smart suggestion for fuel-efficient navigation.

As I said before, the Garmin 205 is equipped with a HD display, whose dimension is 97*71*20mm with the whole weight of 147.42g, in comparison with it, the Garmin UNVI 1300 is much lighter than the former one, whose overall weight only weighs about 5.7 ounce. Furthermore, by considering the comprehensive performance that the machine adopts with a built-in lithium-ion battery which can enlarge the service life up to four hours, I confirm my choice of buying this model rather than the 205. Of course, being the latest model of Garmin GPS navigation, the display of the Garmin UNVI 1300 is no need to worry about. As a matter of fact, this model does have a better performance, with a 4.3 diagonal color display and pixel of 480 x 272, thus it can offer a cleaner interface for you to watch.

In one word, the Garmin NUVI 1300 does not let the users down. Though the price is higher than the 205, it is acceptable for us due to its powerful performance.

Finally, why I am impressed:

When driving with the 1350, I never had any doubt where I was at any given time and I never had any doubt what my next maneuver would be (and isn’t this the bottom line of any GPS?). The voice commands have plenty of volume, are easy to understand and they also give you adequate lead time for upcoming turns. The commands will also repeat but the voice is not annoying.
